LEGISLATIVE UPDATE STATE OF MAINE

EFFECTIVE DATE MARCH 1, 2004

 

Effective March 1, 2004 there are some legislated changes in the administration of the bottle bill in the State of Maine.

 LD985 mandates an increase in the handling fee paid to redemption centers from 3¢ per unit to 3.5¢ per unit. This document also mandates reporting requirements for un-redeemed deposits for manufacturers.

 In addition, Chapter 360 has been revised to include requirements for registration of all distributors, manufacturers, redemption centers and labels with the Department of Agriculture.
